Nicole Ari Parker, an American actress who has appeared on film and television as well as on stage, is most well-known for portraying Teri Joseph, a fiery lawyer in the show the show on Showtime called Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe became her stage name after her wedding. While growing up within Baltimore, Maryland, she was always fascinated by acting. In an Maryland high school competition in her early years of schooling, she won the prize for the best actress. Contractor who was born in Mumbai and who was a resident of Nigeria from the time she was just seven years old. She knew a great deal about different cultures around the world and was able to travel in such a short time. She attended boarding school at the age of 7 to 9 in London. Then her family returned to Toronto (Canada) which is where they lived for the rest of her childhood. Contractor was a student and an expert in classical dancing in Toronto. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts - a specialized arts high school in which she studied not only dance, but also theater. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at age of 16 following almost 10 year of dance. When she graduated from high-school with a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she was a theatre student with a dual diploma in sociology and psychology. Contractor was offered the lead role in Pericles following a brief time at University. She was a part of the audition for the part in the Stratford Shakespeare Festival (Ontario Canada) and was awarded. After two weeks of performances, she got glowing reviews. This play was named the best production by Canadian critics. The conservatory at Stratford takes eight people as well as four females as well as a few other people for a 20 weeks of crash courses. Contractor received a guaranteed spot for the following season and was given the part of Hermia.
